Sad news

I recently found out that my BSc supervisor, Prof. Margarita Piedra died after a long fight against cancer. She was a great example to me, and many other students back in Cuba, at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias y Tecnologías Aplicadas (previously Instituto Superior de Ciencias y Tecnologías Nucleares).

I learned from her how to approach experimental work with very limited resources, and always keeping a good spirit in the face of adversity. With her, I presented for the first time in an international conference in Cuba, and we published my first “independent” scientific paper.

I also learned from her to keep an eye always on what matters most: family.
She will always be remembered.
