Alejandra Riveros Cortés, new PhD Candidate

Alejandra Riveros Cortés joins the BuBbleGun team as new PhD Candidate

The BuBbleGun team, part of David Fernández Rivas’ research group, is pleased to welcome Alejandra Riveros Cortés as its new PhD Candidate. Alejandra holds Bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). She brings experience in microfluidics, fluid–soft matter interactions, computational modelling, medical device design, and experimental and computational biomechanics.

As part of the VIDI project, Alejandra will contribute to advancing the understanding of fluid–skin interactions using ultrafast microscopic jets, with the goal of enabling controlled fluid delivery with minimal skin damage.

Her PhD will focus on developing experimental methods to measure dynamic skin properties, studying the fluid–structure interactions of micro-jet impacts, and using computational models to predict jet–skin outcomes, including the jet velocities required to inject in skin surrogates and ex-vivo skin.

The team is excited to welcome Alejandra and looks forward to her contributions to the BuBbleGun research line and the broader field of needle-free fluid delivery.
