Guerrilla Science: Survival Strategies of a Cuban Physicist by Ernesto Altshuler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is a beautiful story about science, humor and in some instances, sadness. The author uses several anecdotes in his story that at the same time teaches us something about his top-notch scientific research. For most people, Cuba is all about music, rum, cigars, … and of course the revolution of 1959. However, Ernesto has a special way not to talk about politics, but in his stories, you feel the strong influence that the US embargo, and the fall of the communist bloc in the 1980s have had on Cuban science.
