Bubbles in a Bag

Our recently published work on “Cavitation intensifying bags improve ultrasonic advanced oxidation with Pd/Al2O3 catalyst” has taught us that Cavitation Intensifying Bags CIBs (also known as BuBble bags) in combination with supported metal catalyst (Pd/Al2O3) resulted in a 10-fold increase in reaction rates compared to the non-catalytic sonochemical process. This opens the door for more efficient […]

Bubbles and corners

Our work on Cavity collapse near slot geometries has been just published! It deals with bubbles collapsing close to slot geometries. We learned interesting details on how the liquid jet is formed, with implications for many practical situations, such as cleaning complex objects. This is a collaboration with Ivo Peters and Elijah D. Andrews.

Sad news

I recently found out that my BSc supervisor, Prof. Margarita Piedra died after a long fight against cancer. She was a great example to me, and many other students back in Cuba, at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias y Tecnologías Aplicadas (previously Instituto Superior de Ciencias y Tecnologías Nucleares). I learned from her how to […]

A new Semester

This week the new semester started, and I am teaching two courses: Innovating Reactor Systems (Master – including Chemical Engineering programs) Innovation Project (Bachelor Honours programme – Shaping the Future) On both we will have to adapt to the new rules to mitigate risks during the Covid-19 pandemics. For sure it is hard for students and […]

Two pages, 10 years

This short article provides a short overview of my activities valorising scientific knowledge. Its title says a lot! Small bubbles and bubble bags: a scientific knowledge valorisation

Two parts of a Process Intensification ambitious project

We have finally published in two parts the results of our Lorentz Center event in 2019: Process Intensification education contributes to sustainable development goals (Part 1 and Part 2). It was the result of a collaboration of more than 30 experts from all over the world!

Helping in times of Corona

I signed up as expert and member of the Dutch Engineering Society KIVI. I hope to help with my expertise in ultrasonic cleaning to this great initiative.

Admitted to the Global Young Academy

It is a great honour to have been admitted to the Global Young Academy! I look forward to advance the role of science in creating a better world.

Early morning Radio interview

Last Sunday morning, the radio program Fris!, from NPO Radio 1 interviewed me on the phone. They wanted to know more about what is in my needle-free research plans that can help the wider population. You can hear it (in Dutch), from minute 5, on the transmission of Fris!
